Illustration Friday – LAUNCH

June 20, 2011
tags: , ,

The new Storybooky launches (how appropriate!) with an Illustration Friday entry!  I used to take the Friday challenge regularly, but got busy with other projects. I’m hoping to be posting there more often. If you’re visiting from Illustration Friday, welcome, and I hope you stop by again.

If you don’t know Illustration Friday, it’s a site where an inspiration keyword is posted every week (on Friday!). Illustrator working in all kinds of styles and media post their interpretations. It’s good exercise to take the challenge, and fun to see what everyone else does.

This weeks word is LAUNCH. This kid is launching a leap, perhaps a career, and perhaps an identity her classmates never suspected.

The underpainting was done in watercolor, upper layers in oil.

I love the perspective, with the other kids so low in the composition. Nice work!
